In Hotel 2020 hospitality designers will share their insights on the changes taking place within new and newly redeveloped hotel properties and how this will impact the guest experience and the services and amenities offered by the property’s managers.
This forum will be essential to those who are interested in hotels and hotel design such as, owners, developers, operators, designers in the hospitality sector.
Mr. Frederic Bourquin
Atelier B Limited
Frederic Bourquin was born in Geneva, Switzerland. After a happy childhood eating chocolate and mingling with the cows in the Alps, he headed for Superior Federal Art College. There he honed a keen sense of open spaces, symmetry, form and fell particularly in love with textures and materials.
Working in the heart of Europe he found himself in an extremely rich working environment and rapidly acquired an invaluable outlook and sensibility towards international design and architecture, both Classical and Contemporary. He arrived in Hong Kong in 1994 where he promptly gained an extensive experience while working on both high-end residential and hospitality projects.
He worked for a number of reputable international firms before setting up Atelier B in 1997 and has since been managing the design direction for Atelier B’s projects.
Today, from his base in Hong Kong, Frederic and his Team work on premium Luxury Projects in various parts of Asia, Europe and America. By character, all Frederic’s projects are highly intimate and personal.

Mr. Scott Ian Myklebust
M Co Design
Scott Myklebust is the founding principal and design director of M CO Design. With over 23 years of international experience designing large scale mixed-use, entertainment, and hospitality projects worldwide, Scott launched his practice in 2005 with a commitment to a collaborative, hands-on design approach partnering with his clients to create uniquely conceived and crafted projects.
Before moving to Hong Kong Scott has travelled extensively throughout Europe, and Asia. During his travels he gained a broad appreciation and understanding of the origins of Western architecture and how it can be adapted to other cultures and locations throughout Asia and the world.
While working with the Jerde Partnership based in Venice, California (1994 – 1998), he was a key designer on numerous projects including the award-winning Bellagio Resort Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada and the Dentsu Headquarters in Tokyo in association with Jean Nouvel. Following the opening of the Bellagio, Scott partnered with Richard Orne in 1998 to found Orne + Associates (O+A). Together they launched a successful practice that encompassed urban mixed-use and master planning projects worldwide.
Scott is currently engaged in the design of several hospitality projects in China, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.
Scott received a Bachelor of Environmental Design, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Minnesota.
Mr. Adrian Battisby
LW Interiors Hong Kong
Adrian has over twenty year’s hospitality design experience with projects in the United Kingdom, the Middle East and Asia. Following a respectable tenure with LW Dubai, Adrian relocated from the UAE to Hong Kong to head up LW Hong Kong as Associate Director, further reinforcing the company’s commitment to deliver design services for the F&B and hospitality sectors across the Asia pacific and south East Asia region.
With an impressive portfolio of completed works Adrian brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role and takes an energetic approach helping lead LW’s design foot print across the APAC region.
LW mission has always been to deliver the timeless elegance of modern European design with clean smooth lines, functional and efficient spaces, embodying LW’s consistent design approach of simplicity and clarity.

Mr. Mike Staley
Mike commenced 2002 by establishing the custom publishing house Ring Of Fire Media (www.rofmedia.com). ROF’s first publication, PRC Magazine, has for some time been one of the region’s leading publications focusing on the built environment.
Originally from New Zealand, Mike has lived in Hong Kong for 30 years. Since 2010 he has been developing a growing presence in the regional conference and exhibition sector and is increasingly being invited to moderate key industry events such as, HOFEX and Build4Asia in Hong Kong and Design Green in Singapore.
